The Swan
3’43’’ Single Channel , Video installation
This piece is about self-healing. In the age of the fast-paced life as well as a tight work schedules, people are under a lot of pressure so much, so we often forget to make quiet time and the joy of being alone with our thoughts. The video starts with a black screen and the sound of someone singing Dying Swan by Saint-Saens. When the light is turned on, the viewer sees that it is me singing in an enclosed space, my closet. The collision, and reverberation of my voice is fills the entire closet space. I am both the performer and audience inside of this self made stage. The street noise outside of the space reminds the viewer of the world out there and they hear but cannot it see it; in its invisibility, the sound enables them to perceive movement while also making each performance on this stage unique and unrepeatable.
